Wasatch Advisors Announces Changes to Executive Management Team

JB Taylor to Succeed Jeff Cardon as CEO of Wasatch Advisors Effective February 1, 2016

Jeff Cardon Will Continue to Co-Manage the Wasatch Small Cap Growth Fund With JB Taylor Named the Lead Portfolio Manager

Eric Bergeson to Be Named President of Wasatch Advisors

Salt Lake City, Utah, September 23, 2015—The Wasatch Advisors Board of Directors announced that, effective February 1, 2016, Wasatch veteran JB Taylor will succeed Jeff Cardon in the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Cardon, the Chief Executive Officer since 2009, will focus all of his attention on investment management.  Mr. Cardon will remain a Portfolio Manager of the Wasatch Small Cap Growth Fund (WAAEX) and related institutional portfolios, which he has managed since their inception in 1986.  Mr. Taylor, who joined Mr. Cardon on the Small Cap Growth Fund in 2013, will become the Lead Portfolio Manager of the Fund, and will co-manage the Fund with Mr. Cardon.  Mr. Taylor, a 19-year Wasatch veteran, will also remain the Lead Portfolio Manager of the Wasatch Core Growth Fund (WGROX) and related institutional portfolios, which he has managed for 15 years.  Both managers will continue to be supported by the entire Wasatch U.S. small-cap equity research team, which is comprised of 12 portfolio managers/analysts with an average tenure at Wasatch of 13 years.

In addition, Eric Bergeson will be named President of Wasatch Advisors, also effective February 1, 2016.  Mr. Bergeson has led the firm’s sales and marketing as Managing Director, has been responsible for consultant and client relations, and has directed the firm’s expansion into new product areas, all of which he will continue to oversee.

“The best-managed companies we invest in all have a stable, forward-thinking approach to succession planning.  Moving more responsibilities to our next generation of leaders is a logical step in this direction,” said Mr. Cardon.  “I am pleased that both JB and Eric are being formally recognized for their leadership, while continuing their key contributions in portfolio management, and in sales and marketing.  I look forward to being able to focus all of my time on the Small Cap Growth Fund and portfolios, and on working with the entire Wasatch investment team for many years to come, sitting side by side with JB Taylor.”

“While it is an honor to succeed Jeff as CEO, my primary responsibilities remain in managing portfolios and generating returns for our clients,” said Mr. Taylor.  “I look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence and success that we enjoyed under Jeff's leadership.  Wasatch Advisors has been run for over 40 years as a very flat organization, and the firm will continue to be led by our eight-person Board of Directors.  Jeff, Eric and I will continue our Board roles.  Wasatch is committed to preserving its 100% employee-owned status, and a smooth, forward-looking transition of management responsibilities is integral to remaining an independent, client-focused asset manager.”
