Wasatch Frontier Emerging Small Countries Fund to Close to New Investors on May 9, 2014(April 28, 2014)
Effective at the end of market trading (4:00 p.m. EST) on May 9, 2014, the Wasatch Frontier Emerging Small Countries Fund (WAFMX) will close to most new investors. The Fund will remain open to existing Fund shareholders, as well as current and future clients of financial advisors and retirement plans with an established position in the Fund.
The Fund will also remain open to new and existing shareholders who purchase shares directly from Wasatch Funds.
“Wasatch takes fund capacity seriously. We have a long history of managing growth to protect the interests of existing shareholders and believe it is appropriate to begin limiting future access to the Frontier Emerging Small Countries Fund,” said Gene Podsiadlo, Director of Mutual Funds.
Said Lead Portfolio Manager Laura Geritz, “I’m very positive about the long-term opportunity in frontier and emerging small countries, and believe we will continue to find high-quality growth companies in these markets. Slowing inflows into the Fund helps ensure the integrity of our investment process.”
