This board of directors pays close attention to portfolio management and performance. The Wasatch Advisors board of directors is a separate entity from the board serving Wasatch Funds.

Eric Bergeson

Eric S. Bergeson, Managing Director

Wasatch Advisors

Mr. Bergeson is a Managing Director of Wasatch Advisors and serves on the Board of Directors.  He is also a board member of Financière de l’Echiquier—an investment manager based in France.

Mr. Bergeson joined Wasatch Advisors in 1998.  Prior to joining Wasatch, he was director of operations for GSS/Array Technology, an electronics manufacturing company headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand.  Prior to that, he was an associate with J.P. Morgan Securities in New York.  From 1990 to 1993, he played in the National Football League as a free safety with the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Oilers and New England Patriots.

Mr. Bergeson earned a Master of Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Brigham Young University.

Eric speaks Cantonese.  He enjoys working out, playing basketball, golfing and reading.

Jeff Cardon

Jeff Cardon, CFA, Chief Executive Officer, Portfolio Manager

Wasatch Advisors

Mr. Cardon is Chief Executive Officer of Wasatch Advisors and a member of the Board of Directors.  He has been the Lead Portfolio Manager for the Wasatch Small Cap Growth Fund since 1986.  He joined Wasatch Advisors in 1980 and has spent his entire career in the field of investment management.

Mr. Cardon attended the University of Utah, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.  He is also a CFA charterholder.

Mr. Cardon is a past president and a current member of the Salt Lake City Society of Financial Analysts.

Jeff is a Utah native who enjoys golf and skiing.  He and his wife are very active in philanthropy and community affairs.

Roger Edgley

Roger D. Edgley, CFA, Director of International Research, Portfolio Manager

Wasatch Advisors

Mr. Edgley is Director of International Research and the Lead Portfolio Manager for the Wasatch International Growth, International Opportunities, and Emerging Markets Small Cap Funds.  He is also a Portfolio Manager for the Wasatch Emerging Markets Select Fund.  He joined Wasatch Advisors in 2002 and is a member of the Board of Directors.  A native of the United Kingdom, he also holds U.S. citizenship and has many years of international investing experience.

Prior to joining Wasatch Advisors, Mr. Edgley was a principal, director of international research and portfolio manager for Chicago-based Liberty Wanger Asset Management, which managed the Acorn Funds.  He was also a co-manager for the Acorn Foreign Forty Fund.  Earlier, he worked in Hong Kong as a financial-services analyst for Societe Generale Asia/Crosby Securities and as an analyst for Strategic Asset Management.

Mr. Edgley has a Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Sussex and a Master of Science in Social Psychology with Statistics from the London School of Economics, where he was awarded a Social Science Research Scholarship.  He earned a Bachelor of Science with honors in Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire.  He is also a CFA charterholder.

Gene Podsiadlo

Eugene Podsiadlo, Director of Mutual Funds

Wasatch Advisors

Mr. Podsiadlo is Director of Mutual Funds for Wasatch Advisors.  He also serves as a member of the Wasatch Advisors Board of Directors, a position he has held since 2001.

Prior to joining Wasatch Advisors, Mr. Podsiadlo was a managing director at Warburg, Pincus & Co. and president of Warburg Pincus Funds.  In seven years under his direction, the firm’s retail and institutional mutual-fund business grew to over $11 billion in assets.  He has served on the board of directors and the audit committee of American Capital Strategies, a mezzanine financing and buyouts fund.  He was also an advisory board member and limited partner of LC39, a New York venture capital incubator firm.

Mr. Podsiadlo holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Gene resides in Park City, Utah.

Sam Stewart

Samuel S. Stewart, Jr., PhD, CFA

Chairman & Portfolio Manager

Dr. Sam Stewart founded Wasatch Advisors in 1975. Sam serves as Chairman of the Board of Wasatch Advisors and has been the lead Portfolio Manager for the Wasatch Strategic Income Fund since its inception in 2006, and for the Wasatch World Innovators Fund since 2008.

Prior to founding Wasatch Advisors, Sam was Chief Financial Analyst with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in the Division of Investment Management Regulation. He has also been a professor of Finance at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business and at the University of Utah. 

Sam earned both a PhD and an M.B.A. from Stanford University where he held the Alfred P. Sloan, Jr. Fellowship. Earlier, he attended Northwestern University as an Austin Scholar and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration. A member and past president of the Salt Lake City Society of Financial Analysts, Sam has served as a corporate forecasting project director for the Financial Analysts Federation and has written scores of papers for professional and academic journals. 

Sam is a Utah native who loves to travel the globe or to get dirty working on his family ranch in central Utah.  He stays fit by running and playing basketball, and he is an avid Utah Jazz basketball fan.

JB Taylor

JB Taylor, Portfolio Manager

Wasatch Advisors

Mr. Taylor has been the Lead Portfolio Manager for the Wasatch Core Growth Fund since 2000.  In addition, he is a Portfolio Manager for the Wasatch Small Cap Growth and Global Opportunities Funds.  He is also a member of the Wasatch Advisors Board of Directors.  He joined Wasatch Advisors as a Research Analyst in 1996, working on the Micro Cap Fund.  He began working on the Core Growth Fund as a Senior Research Analyst in 1999.

Mr. Taylor graduated from Stanford University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.

JB is a California native who speaks Hungarian.  He enjoys playing basketball, reading and spending time outdoors.

Dan Thurber

Daniel Dean Thurber, J.D., LL.M.

Wasatch Advisors

Mr. Thurber serves as Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel of Wasatch Advisors, which he joined in 2006.  He is also a member of the Wasatch Advisors Board of Directors.  From 2001 to 2006, he was an associate and partner at Dorsey & Whitney LLP in Salt Lake City, where he represented large institutional investors, investment companies and investment advisors (including Wasatch Advisors).

Earlier in his career, Mr. Thurber worked in New York in the investment-funds groups of law firms Baker & McKenzie and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.  He relocated to Utah in 1999 and co-founded Anthill.com, an Internet start-up company.

Mr. Thurber earned Juris Doctor and Master of Laws (LLM) degrees from Duke Law School.  He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Utah, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science.  He is a member of the Utah and New York Bar Associations.

Dan grew up on a dairy farm in Montana, speaks Finnish and enjoys curling.

Mike Yeates

Mike Yeates, CFO

Wasatch Advisors

Mr. Yeates joined Wasatch Advisors in 2003 as an Assistant Controller.  Prior to joining Wasatch, he worked for the University Venture Fund in Salt Lake City.  He left Wasatch Advisors in 2006 to become a management associate at Bridgewater Associates, a multi-strategy hedge fund manager in Westport, Connecticut.  He rejoined Wasatch in 2007 as Chief Financial Officer.  He is also a member of the Wasatch Advisors Board of Directors.

Mr. Yeates earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Utah.

Mike enjoys all sports, particularly snowboarding and basketball.
